Printing Press & Paper Converting Press Replacement Parts

Edgerton Gear makes replacement parts for printing presses and paper converting presses to your specifications.

For over 40 years, we have made gears for a variety of presses. The brand names are Kidder, Hamilton, Goss, Heidelberg, Harris, Flexo-graphic, Hantscho, Baker Perkins, Cobden Chadwick, FMC, Comexi, and others. We understand how critical a quality gear is to the registration of a press.

Printing press and paper converting press gears come in all different sizes, pitches, repeat lengths, quality classes, and materials. Edgerton Gear can often offer a higher quality and more durable gear than the original manufacturer's parts, and ususally at a considerable savings in a fraction of the time. Whether its gears for the plate cylinders, anilox, blanket cylinder (upper & lower) or drive train, the bottom line is Edgerton Gear makes a quality gear in a extremely timely manner for a fair price.

Standard geared presses typically consist of a large main drive motor, pulleys and belts, line shafts, gearboxes, plate, impression and anilox gears and, on a C.I. press, the bull gear. Tortional instability in the line shafts and gear backlash causes registration to drift, especially during unstable conditions like acceleration or deceleration.

Error accumulates as the drive shaft lengthens, and the number of gears in the press increases. To make matters worse, under normal operating conditions, as the gears and other mechanical components begin to wear, the error accumulates and register accuracy slips even further and shows up in the printed product. Gear replacement if often the most cost effective means, and easiest solution to these problems.

We do work on flexographic printing presses. Eliminating the mechanical components as part of the drivetrain has been very important for the revolution in flexo presses, but you may still need our services for your plate cylinder gears.
